On Saturday, we drove down to the Tongariro National Park for the second time to see what it was like in winter. We arrived just before sunset and enthusiastically did our first walk. This was a small walk behing Whakapapa village. We had a great meal at the Discovery lodge (where we stayed the first time). The [...] Today is the last day of the Auckland Film Festival 2007. Here is a quick list of the films we saw this time: Animation Now! This was a fantastic collection of some of the most creative animation around. All less than 15 minutes, they displayed the amazing versatility in styles and material used in animation today. This time we went to Waikowhai Park to do the Cape Horn (Matenga Rahi) walk. This was a real short and relaxing circular walk. It started with a 250 step climb to Cape Horn road with great views and then down to Wattle Bay where there were heaps of oysters. We went during low tide so [...] Today we trooped up to the museum to view some pretty awesomely painted BMW art cars. They even had the ones done by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichenstein. They were all raced. Some of them even got placements! The display was up in the ceiling of the museum. An awesome space with 360 views [...] Went to the NZ Symphony Orchestra Subscription Tour 4 with Leila Josefowicz at the town hall The Violin concerto was Dmitri Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No 1.
